Investors committed to taking action towards racial justice.
Racial capitalism, the foundation of the US economy, draws upon a terrible legacy: the exploitation of Black, Brown and Indigenous peoples, communities, and the environment. Economic factors, focused on increasing shareholder value and maximizing profits, reinforce this racial hierarchy.
Racial Justice Investing (RJI) is a non-proprietary coalition of investors, asset owners, and business leaders who are taking action for racial justice within our own organizations, as well as in our engagements with portfolio companies.
RJI offers an introspective space to reckon with individual and institutional responsibility, pooling knowledge and building relationally with impacted communities to support orienting the frameworks and practices we operate within towards racial equity and racial justice. Such changes would help shift the policies, practices and products of companies, and would inform the public policy landscape, yielding needed systemic and sustainable changes in the investing industry.
